NBC Sports reported that he has been charged with exploiting the company’s virtual credit card programme, citing court documents.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were, in fact, the victim of Patel’s alleged theft, despite the fact that the franchise is referred to as “Business A” in the court records, according to The Athletic. The Jaguars have confirmed that Patel is charged with embezzling from the team, even though the team’s identity was withheld in the federal case.

According to the New York Post, Patel submitted bogus transactions, duplicated and exaggerated real transactions in order to embezzle money.

The Athletic also mentioned that he purchased two cars, a condominium, and a fancy watch that was over $95,000 with that money, among other things.

Who is Amit Patel?

Amit Patel, an individual of Indian-American origin, is a former executive of an American football team Jacksonville Jaguars.

As per the media guides provided by the organisation, Patel worked for the Jaguars’ financial department for at least five complete seasons, starting in 2018. He worked at the position of Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis for the team in between the period of 2018 to 2023.

Patel was fired in February of this year. He was identified as being involved in financial planning and analysis in the team’s media guides for the years 2018 through 2022. Prior to being elevated to manager, Patel worked as a coordinator. He had access to the team’s departmental budgets and financial information because of his role.

Additionally, he oversaw the Jaguars’ virtual credit card programme, which allowed authorised staff to use the funds for business-related purchases.
