Former South African boxer Dingaan Thobela was found dead on April 29, 2024. According to reports, his friends went to his flat in Mayfair, Johannesburg, on Monday night after he failed to answer his mobile phone for several days. Upon their arrival, they forced the door open, only to find him dead. According to one of his close friends:
It was not like him to not answer his mobile phone and his family worried about him accompanied police to his home and found he had passed on.”

Dingaan Bongane Thobela was a former South African professional boxer. He was born on September 24, 1966, in Soweto, South Africa. He recently passed away on April 29, 2024, and during his career, he competed in the Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, and Super-middleweight positions. Thobela was a much-loved boxer in South Africa and often engaged in charity work to help people in poverty.

He won the WBO lightweight title from 1990 to 1992 and the WBA lightweight title in 1993, before winning the WBC super-middleweight title in 2000. “Rose” won the prestigious WBC super-middleweight belt following a memorable 12th-round stoppage victory over then defending champion Glen Catley. The victory sealed Thobela as one of the finest athletes in South African history.
