What Did the Viral Picture Show?

The now viral-photo of Silva’s family which has been making rounds across social media platforms features Silva incredibly youthful in a dark shirt and white chinos.

His brother Nando and sister Natalia are also in the shot, along with their parents Fernando and Eva, who is half Japanese. However the highlight of the picture was fans learning about Silva’s Japanese heritage.

Silva was born in Arguineguín, on January 8, 1986, in one of the most populated towns on the south coast of Gran Canaria and his full name is David Josué Jiménez Silva.

His father, Fernando Jiménez Silva, was a former municipal police officer who would later be security at the CF Valencia stadium and his mother’s name is Eva Silva. Silva is of Hispano-Japanese descent, as his father is Spanish and his mother is of Japanese descent.

Silva’s mother Eva worked at the Anfi Resort in Grand Canaria as a chambermaid when he was growing up on the island.

About David Silva

Standing at 1.70 m (5 ft 7 in), he played mainly as a central or attacking midfielder but also as a winger or second striker. His passing ability and possession-retaining qualities earned him the nicknames “Merlin” and “El Mago.”

He is considered one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and one of the greatest players in the history of Manchester City and the Premier League. In his 20-year career as a professional footballer, Silva earned 125 caps for Spain.

The midfielder, who retired last year at the age of 37, was born in a small fishing village in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, to Fernando Jiménez, a former municipal police officer who eventually was responsible for the safety of the Valencia CF stadium, and Eva Silva, who is of Japanese descent.

Silva began playing football in the youth team of UD San Fernando, near Maspalomas. Initially, he played as a goalkeeper before transitioning to a winger, modeling his game after his footballing idol, Michael Laudrup.

At 14, he accepted an offer to join Valencia CF’s youth academy, where he stayed until he was 17. His grandmother, Antonia Montesdeoca, revealed that he learned to play football with whatever they could find.

In January, 2018, Silva revealed that his newborn son, Mateo, had been born extremely prematurely and was fighting to survive. By May, 2018, Mateo was healthy and allowed to come home. Silva is a devout Catholic.
