Less than four months after Jan-Nicol Loftie Eaton broke the record for the fastest T20I century in just 33 balls, Estonian batsman Sahil Chauhan struck a century in just 27 balls during a T20I match against Cyprus on Monday to create a new record. 

It was also faster than Chris Gayle’s 30-ball avalanche from the 2013 IPL, making it the fastest century in T20 cricket. 

Power-hitter Chauhan scored an undefeated 144 off just 41 balls, smashing an amazing 24 boundaries, including a record-breaking 18 sixes. 

Despite losing their openers early in the innings, Estonia’s incredible strike rate of 351.21 allowed them to easily chase down Cyprus’ aim of 191/7.

Sahil Chauhan is an Estonian cricket player who was born on February 19, 1992 to Indian origin parents. The 32-year-old is a right arm medium bowler and right handed batsman. He plays for the Estonian cricket national team. He is a Hindu by religion.

He has only played 4 T20Is and made his debut in September 2023 against Gibraltar. He is capable of hitting sixes over 100m with ease.

Estonia now has a 2-0 lead in the six-match series versus Cyprus as a result of this victory. Interestingly, Chauhan’s experience in the first game of the Monday doubleheader was very different from his outing for a golden duck.
