Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman, 26, of Chesterfield County, Virginia, was charged with malicious wounding and felony child abuse, according to court records and the Henrico County Police Division and the arrest came after the police began investigating three babies that were discovered with “unexplained fractures” in the newborn care unit of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, in late November and December, the hospital said as it provided footage to authorities to help in their investigation.
According to a statement posted on its website, Richmond Doctor’s Hospital has temporarily ceased admitting infants to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) “out of an abundance of caution.”
It’s unclear when Strotman started working at the Henrico hospital, but the Virginia Department of Health Professions states that she became a registered nurse in May 2019.
This is beyond the pale.

An update on the inquiry has been released by the Henrico County Police Division, which is looking into the case. They stated that as part of the investigation, they are looking into hospital CCTV footage.
“The Henrico County Police Division is utilizing all available resources to ensure a thorough investigation into this matter,” the statement read. “This involves reviewing dozens of videos from inside the NICU. As previously mentioned, detectives are re-examining the 2023 and 2024 cases as part of this broader investigation.”

At the Richmond Doctor’s Hospital, where Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman worked as a nurse, four infants sustained “inexplicable” fractures in the summer of 2023, and three more in November and December of 2024.
The location of the fractures and the specifics of the newborns were not disclosed by the Henrico County Police. The connection between Ann Strotman and the fractures was not disclosed.
Although fractures do occur to infants in the NICU, the hospital stated that the recent wave of occurrences has raised concerns. This incidence is noteworthy because it coincides with a recent incident at Richmond Doctor’s Hospital’s NICU where Virginia Child Services notified a couple that their infant had fractures from maltreatment.
At least three of the kids’ families were said to have attended Strotman’s arraignment on Friday; Dominique Hackey, the father of two twin boys, was among them. In 2023, his sons were delivered at 28 weeks and spent almost three months in the intensive care unit.
Multiple NICU babies from the same Virginia hospital were diagnosed with ‘unexplainable fractures’ in 2023 and 2024.
