Eric R. Holder Jr. has been sentenced to 60 years to life in prison by a court in Los Angeles for the first-degree murder of Grammy-nominated hip-hop rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2019.
The shooting occurred outside Hussle’s clothing store, the Marathon, in South Los Angeles, the same neighborhood where both men grew up in similar circumstances.

Eric was found guilty of the murder and also convicted on two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm for firing shots that hit two other men at the scene who survived.
During the trial, the court heard testimonies about the significant impact of Hussle’s murder on the community as well as the lifetime of mental illness, abuse, and suffering experienced by Holder.
As a result, Judge Jacke sentenced Holder to 25 years to life for the murder, 25 years more for a firearm sentencing enhancement, and 10 years for assault with a firearm. The judge also ordered several other sentencing additions and credited Holder for the nearly four years he has served since the shooting.
