Until now, Eric Eiswert has been known as the leader of Pikesville High, responsible for shaping the educational experience of countless students. Eiswert’s career in education has likely been filled with both challenges and successes, but recent events have cast a shadow over his tenure.
The audio recording features Eric Eiswert making disparaging comments about the test scores of African American students. The tone of the recording takes a darker turn as offensive comments are directed towards an African American staff member and members of the Pikesville Jewish community.
Parents, such as Davina McCain, express deep concern over the alleged remarks, demanding swift action. “He needs to be removed from the school ASAP,” McCain insists, echoing the sentiments of many in the community who believe that such comments are incompatible with the values a school should uphold.
WJZ, a local news station, has refrained from publishing the recording, citing the inability to verify its authenticity. However, the gravity of the situation prompted the CBS News Standards & Practices team to analyze the audio, emphasizing the need for a meticulous examination to determine the legitimacy of the claims.
When WJZ visited Eiswert’s home seeking comment, the response from an unidentified person at the door added another layer of intrigue. “He wants to know what side you’re on, I guess,” they stated cryptically, leaving room for speculation about the dynamics surrounding the controversy.
In the wake of the recording being shared on social media, the sentiment among parents is clear – if the comments are indeed attributable to Eiswert, resignation is the expected outcome. McCain voices her worry, stating, “There’s other jobs out here that can help you.” The incident raises questions not only about the alleged remarks but also about the impact such a revelation can have on the students and their parents who trusted Eiswert’s leadership.

Baltimore County Schools has issued statements acknowledging the gravity of the allegations. Letters were sent to families at Pikesville High and faculty members, with the superintendent expressing deep concern and emphasizing that the statements do not reflect the values of the school system. The district, however, maintains that the legitimacy of the recording is yet to be confirmed, and they are actively investigating the matter.
Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski has also weighed in on the issue, denouncing the alleged statements as “abhorrent” and pledging full support to Baltimore County Public Schools. The commitment to a thorough investigation and the promise of swift action, as stated by the superintendent, reflects the seriousness with which the school district is approaching this matter.
