BJP accuses Elizabeth Colburn of Pakistan and ISI links
BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia recently made allegations against Elizabeth Colburn, stating that she had links with Tauqir Sheikh and the ISI. Gaurav stated:
I am saying this with some responsibility that Gaurav Gogoi’s wife Elizabeth Colburn, has links with Tauqir Sheikh who happens to be the advisor in the Pakistan Planning Commission. This is a serious issue which poses a threat to the national security of the country therefore, we wish to ask Mr. Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge that Gaurav Gogoi needs to come out and give clear details of Elizabeth’s association with ISI and Pakistan…Why is Elizabeth Colburn working with Pakistani ISI agents?”
Bhatia also brought up the issue about the couple jeopardizing the national security of the country. He questioned Gogoi’s position in the party and his access to very sensitive information about the country’s national security.

Elizabeth Colburn who was born in England in a Christian family but the names of her parents aren’t known, is the wife of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, from Assam. While her DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 35-45 years while Gaurav is aged 42. Colburn currently works as a senior consultant for Oxford Policy Management, where she deals with climate issues. She previously worked with the Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN) in Pakistan from March 2011 to January 2015. During her time there, she worked in the coordination of country programs across India and Nepal. Moreover, she also led CDKN’s knowledge management work.
Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav married Elizabeth Colburn, an English girl at a high profile wedding ceremony in Delhi where traditional Ahome formalities were observed back in 2013. Elizabeth’s father handed over his daughter following the traditional Ahom chaklong formalities performed by a group of moulung headed by Dr Jogen Phukan at Sunheribag.

Marriage and children
Elizabeth Colburn and Gaurav Gogoi tied the knot in 2013 and currently have two children, Kabir and Maya, a boy and a girl who was born in 2020. The pair first met each other in 2010 when Colburn was doing an internship together at the Sanctions Committee of the United Nations Secretariat.

Following all the accusations, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi simply termed them as baseless. He stated that all the accusations are simply laughable and entertaining. He stated:
If my wife is an ISI agent, then I am a RAW agent.”
He further claimed that the BJP had carried out similar “smear campaigns” against him and his family in the past. The Congress leader stated that the BJP are launching the smear campaign in fear that he might lose his chair.
