Eden Knight, a Muslim transwoman, killed herself in Saudi Arabia after her family and hired “fixers” forced her to stop being a woman
The young woman was taking hormone replacement therapy, which helped her mental health a lot. However, when her family found out about it, they told her to stop taking it.
Knight’s story began in the United States, where she went to an American high school in the suburbs of Washington, DC, and an international school in Riyadh. After that, she was accepted to study computer science at George Mason University.

Unfortunately, her international scholarship ended before she could graduate, so her visa ran out before she could leave the country.
Knight hoped to get asylum in the US because he was afraid of being sent back to Saudi Arabia. She called her parents “strict, conservative Muslims” and said that they had hired “fixers” who promised to make things better between her and her parents. But Knight stopped talking to them, and she said that the lawyer was pressuring her to stop transitioning.
Eden Knight speak about her detransition
“He tried to get me to be ‘normal…” Knight wrote. She finally gave in and started doing what he was told. “I did everything he asked, I cut my hair, I stopped taking estrogen, I changed my wardrobe, I met my dad. And then I had another breakdown. My mom kept telling me to repent, or I was going to hell, and I did, I repented,” she said.
Multiple trans s-x workers have independently confirmed Eden Knight’s abductor, Michael Pocalyko, has hired them before. Makes me wonder why he, of all people, was chosen to traffic her? It’s scary to think someone may have recommended him to Eden’s parents knowing his history. pic.twitter.com/xW3n2pZWbf

Knight started having problems when her family found her HRT. When they found it a second time, she had to stop taking the hormone medicine for a month. When the young trans woman’s family found her HRT for the third time, she told them she was “done fighting.” She didn’t want to live if she couldn’t change.
Eden Knight was suffering from mental health issues
Since 2022, Knight had been taking HRT, which was said to have helped her mental health. Her friends said that she was a “shining star in the trans community.” With over 20,000 Twitter followers, she had become something of an LGBTQ icon on social media.
Knight is said to have left a note about his planned death on Twitlonger. The note said that she would be dead before anyone could read her message. “If you’re reading this, I’ve already k*lled myself. I have given life every opportunity, I have given myself every chance to get better. But I couldn’t do it, I wasn’t strong enough, I don’t think there was a universe where I was ever strong enough to survive this,” read the note.
In 2014, we lost Leelah Alcorn thanks to her clueless, ignorant, hyper-religious parents.
It's 2023, and we just lost Eden Knight the same way, along with many since Leelah. How many more? ENACT LEELAH'S LAW NOW! Forced detransition and conversion therapy is cruel and torturous. pic.twitter.com/Kib0mTI4oX

Knight’s sad death shows how hard it is for transgender people to live in conservative places like Saudi Arabia, where there aren’t many legal protections for LGBTQ people. The news of her death has brought attention back to the fact that trans people around the world need more help and safety.
