Ed hailed from Kansas City and was born in 1929 November. Ed Asner became a beloved actor after making his on-screen debut in 1957. More than 400 roles in the movie and Television shows followed, with him becoming well-known for his character Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and later his own series.
Many of Ed Asner’s other notable roles have come in the likes of Pixar’s Up as the grouchy Carl Fredricksen, as Santa Claus in Elf, the John Wayne-starring Western El Dorado, The Bronx Zoo, Thunder Alley, and even Cobra Kai, where he played the character Sid Weinberg in seasons 1st and 3rd.
Ed also lent his iconic voice to a number of roles too, notably the animated series Gargoyles and the 1994 Spider-Man series where he voiced J. Jonah Jameson. Throughout their illustrious career, Ed Asner was also nominated for numerous awards for his work, notably winning a total of 5 Golden Globes and an incredible seven Primetime Emmy Awards.
