49-year-old Dwarka Vishwanath Doke is a dedicated police officer from Nashik. She is serving as an inspector and assistant director at the Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik.

Dwarka Vishwanath Dokhe reached the Mount Everest on Wednesday at 4:10 am where she stayed for 7-8 minutes, singing the national anthem and waving the tricolor and the Maharashtra police flag. The X handle for the Maharashtra police shared Dokhe’s photos taken during her Everest climb.

Following a successful climb, Doke started her descent and arrived at Everest Base Camp at 5 p.m. on May 23, 2024. On May 27, 2024, at 7 a.m., she returned to her hometown of Srirampur, Maharashtra, where she was greeted by her family and the locals with a lavish procession.

Dokhe mentioned that her parents had passed away and that her “sole aim in scaling Mount Everest was to pay tribute to them.”

Dwarka Vishwanath Dokhe who is originally from Srirampur in Ahmednagar district, joined the police force in 2006 as a police sub-inspector through a direct recruitment service.

Dokhe has been successfully climbing snow-covered peaks from 2016, and she is currently working as a Cybercrime Instructor at the Nashik Police Academy. She reportedly developed an interest in climbing Everest in 2022 after reading a book called ‘Saad Deti Him Shikhare’ and eventually made climbing Everest her goal.

According to the Marathi-language daily, she arrived in Kathmandu on March 24, 2024. She had to come back from Base Camp 2 because of her declining health. But she remained determined and started training again to climb the highest peak in the world.

To prepare for the challenging journey, Dwarka underwent rigorous training. This included carrying over 210 kilograms on her back every day, walking on a steeply inclined treadmill, and jogging 15 kilometres three days a week. She also dedicated herself to full-body exercises and frequently climbed the stairs of an eight-story building.
