Earlier, reports emerged indicating that on Wednesday night, an unidentified mob vandalized RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, promoting newly appointed principal Suhrita Paul to explain that she doesnโt know anything about the perpetrators.

The incident came a few days after the junior doctors of the medical institute triggered the resignation of former principal Sandip Ghosh, who resigned from his position amid the defamatory allegations online linked to the heartbreaking r*pe and murder case of a second-year postgraduate student in the hospital premises that sent shockwaves to the entire nation.
What Did Suhrita Pal Say?
Addressing the media on Thursday, the newly appointed principal urged the students and people to tell her more โabout them,โ referring to the perpetrators, while adding that she is โgoing for flag hoisting.โ
In her statement, Suhrita Pal, can be heard saying, โIf you know anything, please tell me. I donโt know anything about them. I am going for flag hoisting. We should honor our national flag.โ
Paul was made the new Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) for three years back in 2021. Paul, who had been the vice-principal and medical superintendent of Burdwan Medical College and Hospital from 2018, took up research and development projects for the benefit of the students of the college and passed out from Calcutta Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) in 1991, she has completed her MD in Pharmacology from University of Calcutta.
In 2011, she was appointed as the head of the department of pharmacology but in 2023 Suhrita Paul was removed as the vice-chancellor of the university by the governor’s office and had approached the Calcutta High Court.
Let us remind you that the former principal, Ghosh, resigned from his position on Monday, citing defamation on social media platforms after the r*pe and murder incident.

In the wake of the mob vandalizing incident, the nurses at RG Kar Medical College have been demanding the security enhancement, as the incident occurred only a few days after the tragic incident, while the protest over the trainee doctorโs r*pe and murder case is still ongoing.
What Did the Nurses Say?
While speaking to the reporters, the nurses can be heard saying, โWe need security, we donโt want to hamper patient care.โ Meanwhile, various videos of the incident have gone viral on social media, with many claiming that the mob came to hamper the crime scene.
However, in a post on X/Twitter, the Kolkata Police clarified that despite the vandalism in the medical institute, the crime scene remained undisturbed, while further emphasizing that โdonโt spread unverified news,โ as the authorities claim they will take โlegal action for spreading rumors.โ
