State BJP leader Dilip Ghosh asserted that the previous principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, is the primary source of violence and corruption at the hospital as the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) conducted raids at his apartment.
In order to look into allegations of money laundering against Sandip Ghosh in the financial irregularities case, the Enforcement Department (ED) filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently holding Ghosh (CBI).
Sandip Ghosh petitioned the Supreme Court on Wednesday in opposition to a ruling made by the Calcutta High Court, which mandated that the CBI look into the graft case against him. On September 6, his case is scheduled to be heard by a bench chaired by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

On September 2, Dr. Sandip Ghosh was taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Anti-Corruption Branch. After a single bench of the Calcutta High Court ordered the CBI to look into the matter, Ghosh was being investigated for alleged financial irregularities and corruption at the college and hospital. On Tuesday, he was placed under arrest for eight days.
In accordance with the Calcutta High Court’s directives, the CBI officially filed a formal FIR against Sandhip Ghosh on August 24 in connection with the purported corruption case. In the midst of a CBI investigation into the corruption case, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kolkata also terminated former Sandip Ghosh’s membership.

Sandip Ghosh is from the Indian state of West Bengal; specifically, he is from Bangaon, North 24 Parganas. He completed his higher secondary education at Bongaon High School in 1989 after passing the Madhyamik test in 1987 from Asansol Ramakrishna Mission High School.
He then enrolled in R. G. Kar Medical College and completed his MBBS program in 1994. Ghosh was employed by Calcutta National Medical College as a surgeon and professor of orthopaedics. He eventually rose to the position of vice-principal. He was named R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital’s principal in 2021.
Local residents have stated that the property known as ‘Sangeetasandip Villa’ is named after Dr. Sandip Ghosh and his wife, Sangeeta with some also claiming that he beat his wife shortly after she gave birth and left her severly injured.
He has been accused of brutally assaulting his wife just 14 days after she gave birth via Caesarean section. Neighbours at his former residence in Barasat, recounted the incident, which allegedly occurred nearly 12 years ago.

Controversy surrounded Sandip Ghosh’s time as the principal of R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, exposing several unethical practices. Ghosh was the target of persistent charges of corruption in June 2023. He was moved to Berhampore’s Murshidabad Medical College after facing severe charges of financial mismanagement, misbehaviour, and manipulation of bids.

Ghosh was given his position as R. G. Kar Medical College’s principal back. The West Bengal State Vigilance Commission received complaints about him on the basis of nepotism, bribery, and contract awards that went against their will. Early in 2021, while he was employed at R. G. Kar Medical College, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) discovered financial irregularities.
