On Saturday, a hospital in Vivek Vihar, Delhi which is owned by Dr Naveen Khichi caught fire

Seven infants lost their lives in the Baby Care New Born hospital fire. Later, at the Vivek Vihar police station, the Delhi Police detained its owner, Dr. Naveen Khichi, for violating sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence).

Dr. Naveen Khichi is the hospital’s director and a prominent paediatrician, according to the Baby Care New Born hospital’s website.

A 2021 court order against the childcare facility’s owner Naveen Khichi, states- ‘the owner of the hospital didn’t have the facility registered & also faced accusations of abuse of a newborn during treatment’.

With 19 years of expertise, paediatrician Dr. Naveen Khichi is a skilled practitioner. He earned an MD in paediatrics from Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi in 2007 after completing his MBBS at Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University, in 2004. Cases against Dr. Naveen Khichi

Dr. Naveen Khichi was in the news recently for a horrible occurrence. The New Born Baby Care Hospital was owned by Dr. Naveen Khichi and was located in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi. One terrible night, a huge fire broke out at the hospital, killing seven newborns horribly. The hospital also received a punishment in 2021 for not being registered.

A 2021 case against Khichi for “criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a patient (a newborn), besides cruelty to a child (Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act)” has also been brought to notice. In that instance, he was given bail.


A magistrate’s inquiry into the fire incident at the Vivek Vihar New Born Baby Care Hospital was also ordered by the Delhi government in the meantime.

The District Magistrate in Shahadra was instructed by the Additional Chief Secretary to investigate the facts surrounding the fire disaster and assign blame to those involved.

Surendra Chaudhary, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Shahdara revealed that although the hospital was authorised to add up to five beds, they ended up installing more than ten.

On Sunday, Saurabh Bharadwaj, the Delhi Health Minister, gave Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Health Secretary Deepak Kumar instructions to see to it that the families of the neonates who perished in the Vivek Vihar fire disaster receive compensation.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, had declared that those accountable for this carelessness would face consequences.
