According to media reports, Luna Society International and the International Lunar Lands Registry are companies that claim to sell land on the moon.

As early as 2002, Rajiv Bagdi from Hyderabad and Lalit Mohata from Bangalore reportedly purchased plots on the moon through these companies. These individuals believe that living on the moon is a possibility, if not today, then in the future.

The late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput also bought a piece of land on the moon, and a fan gifted Shah Rukh Khan land on the moon.

According to Lunar-registry, the price of one acre of land on the moon is USD 37.50, approximately 3075 Indian Rupees. According to the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, no country or individual has the right to claim ownership of any celestial body, including the moon.
