After being refused for doing an MBBS in 2018, he filed an appeal with the Gujarat High Court and then the Supreme Court, winning admission in 2019. Now an intern at Sir-T Hospital in Bhavnagar, Ganesh’s journey is a testament to resilience.
Because of his height, Ganesh’s presence at the hospital frequently causes patients to pause and look again. But his calm, collected manner immediately makes you feel at ease and confident.

Who is Ganesh Baraiya?
Ganesh Baraiya is an Indian doctor. He has been in the news because he recently made history as the world’s shortest doctor, standing at 3 feet 4 inches.
He was born and brought up in Gujarat, India. Due to his birth condition of dwarfism, which affected 72% of his body, Ganesh had to overcome several obstacles throughout his lifetime. His steadfast ambition to pursue a profession in medicine persisted in the face of these hurdles.
Despite his remarkable academic achievements—87% on boards and 233 marks in NEET—Ganesh Baraiya was refused permission by the Gujarat government to pursue his ambition of becoming an MBBS student in 2018.
Unfazed by this setback, Ganesh pursued his case before higher authorities, including the state Education Minister, the District Collector, and ultimately the Gujarat High Court, with the help of his school principal.
He persevered and went to the Supreme Court to seek justice after suffering a setback. The Supreme Court decided in his favor in 2018, allowing him to enroll in MBBS in 2019.
After finishing his MBBS successfully, Ganesh Baraiya is currently employed as an intern at Sir-T Hospital in Bhavnagar. Ganesh is now 22 years and at a physical height of 3 feet, his weight increased proportionally from 14 to 15 Kg.
