Averett University, situated in Danville, Virginia, a private Baptist institution, announced David Hanbury’s passing on Facebook last Sunday, confirmed by his family in the afternoon of the same day. The Orlando Police Department reported that officers attended an unattended death call on Saturday, March 16, at 450 East Compton Street. Upon arrival at the venue, Club Orlando, a men’s club, staff directed them to the deceased individual, identified as Hanbury.

Who is Dr. Hanbury?
On Sunday, the university issued a statement about Dr. Hanbury’s disappearance. He served as an associate professor and co-chair of the department at the Orlando event. According to the university’s report, Dr. Hanbury was last seen on Friday night at the Southeastern Psychological Association Conference. Later, the Orlando Police Department confirmed his disappearance.
Although a missing person report was filed on Saturday, the OPD dispatcher did not provide any further information. With over eight years of academic experience, Dr. Hanbury held positions as an associate professor, co-chair of the psychology department, and chair of the division of psychological and physical health sciences. Thanks to his enormous knowledge and likeable personality, his students and colleagues deeply respected Hanbury.
As of now, the university has not disclosed any information regarding the circumstances leading to Hanbury’s disappearance or death. Averett has arranged a gathering for prayer and support, inviting the campus and surrounding community to attend. The event, scheduled for March 18th at 6 PM, will take place on the Averett Student Center lawn located at 351 Townes Street, as announced by the university.
