Bindeshwar Pathak, the founder of Sulabh International and a social crusader who pioneered the construction of public restrooms, passed away on Tuesday at AIIMS Delhi after suffering a heart attack, a close associate said the news agency PTI.

On Independence Day, Pathak raised the flag in the morning, according to his aide, but soon after, he passed out. He was hurried to AIIMS Delhi. However, according to a hospital source, Pathak was declared dead at 1:42 pm. The source further claimed cardiac arrest as the cause of his death.
Bindeshwar Pathak was born in a Brahmin family Rampur Baghel village of district Vaishali, Bihar and his mother was Yogmaya Devi and his father was Ramakant Pathak – a respected member of the community.
Pathak spent all his childhood and adolescent years in the village where he completed his school education and later moved to the state capital Patna and enrolled in B.N. College from there he graduated in sociology.

All about Dr Bindeshwar Pathak
In the Bihar district of Vaishali, Dr Bindeshwar Pathak was raised in a Brahmin family in the village of Rampur Baghel. Yogmaya Devi was his mother, and Ramakant Pathak, a well-liked community leader, was his father.
He spent some time teaching after completing his education before volunteering with the Gandhi Centenary Committee in Patna. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.

In 1970, Pathak established Sulabh International with the goal of eradicating open defecation and filthy public restrooms. Sulabh is an Indian term that refers to public bathrooms. Additionally, Pathak launched the Sulabh programme for widows, which aimed to free them from all kinds of hardships, limitations, and humiliations.
