A 47-year-old mayor of a small town Rufus in Oregon Town is making headlines after he has been charged with attempted murder, know more about Dowen Jones
As per authorities, Dowen Jones, who has opened multiple rounds of firing at a vehicle which had a family inside during a road rage incident that took place on Halloween near Parkdale has been arrested.

According to the Hood River Sheriff’s Office, when Jones fired at the vehicle, there were around 4 people inside it. Out of these 4, there were 2 were children of age 8 and 5.
According to a report by NBC News, Jones is presently being held at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility.
The 47-year-old suspect has been arrested under the charges of attempted murder and four counts of first-degree attempted assault.
Who is Dowen Jones?
Dowen Jones, who is reportedly 47 year old is the mayor of a tiny city known as Rufus in Oregon. As per the census of 2020, the small city has a population of around 268 people.
Rufus is present at about 100 miles east of downtown Portland.
Jones reportedly won the election for mayor back in 2018. The suspect of shooting case’ term will expire on December 31st. However, he isn’t running for the re-election.
As per the County Sheriff’s Office, the family was in their car behind an SUV that was “driving erratically” on Monday at around 8:45 PM.
When the family passed the car, a man reportedly came out and started shooting at them. Later, the man was identified as Jones.
According to reports, Jones came out from the passenger’s seat, however, as of now, there isn’t any update available regarding who was behind the wheels.
Though, he had fired multiple rounds but fortunately he didn’t injure any member of the family, however, their car has sustained some damages.
In a statement, the Rufus City Council President Scott Holliday, revealed that Jones used to work as an electrician. He oftenly attended the church.
As per a report by NBC news, Jones is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The suspect has made an brief appearance on court on Wednesday, November 2.
As per officials, he wasn’t immediately qualified for a public defender. So he had to wait hire an attorney before his next appearance in court, which is all set for November 10.
