On the eve of the PDC World Darts Championship, it was revealed that 52-year-old Donna Mardle, the wife of darts legend and commentator Wayne Mardle had passed away after a brief illness.
Sky Sports has paid tribute to “the heart and soul” of their coverage of darts with the tragic death of Wayne Mardle’s wife, Donna Mardle.
A statement from the PDC read, “All our thoughts and condolences are with Wayne Mardle and his family, after the passing of his wife Donna earlier this week.”

Mardle plays a significant role in Sky Sports’ darts coverage, and anchor Emma Paton paid a heartfelt homage to him prior to the World Darts Championship’s opening match at Alexandra Palace, stating that he would not be present. Additionally, it is anticipated that he will be on compassionate leave for the duration of the competition.
Following a brief illness, 52-year-old who was born in 1972 Donna Mardle passed suddenly. The pair lived in Essex and had been married for 22 years and didn’t have any children together. While Donna’s net worth isn’t known, Wayne is worth $1.5 million but his salary as a Sky Sports darts commentator isn’t known.
The couple had recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary after just seven years ago, Donna had overcome a battle with cancer and Wayne shared this victory publicly at the time in 2018, expressing his immense relief on X.
Wayne announced on social media over seven years ago that Donna had survived a fight with cancer.
He wrote, “I don’t normally tweet personal stuff, but I need to tell the world that my wife Donna, is now CANCER FREE!!! We’re so so happy. #BEATEN.” Wayne paid homage to his wife on the 22nd anniversary of their marriage on July 24, 2024.
