Who is Don Lewis?
For those who are curious about 61-year-old activist’s ex-husband, let us tell you, Don, whose full name is Jack Donald Lewis, disappeared on the morning of August 17, 1996 after leaving his home in Tampa, Florida.
Desperate investigations for his mysterious disappearance were conducted from Lewis’ Wildlife on Easy Street sanctuary in Tampa to Costa Rica, where he owned land, however, nothing was found.
There wasn’t a single piece of evidence showing Lewis was murdered or about his whereabouts. The first husband of Texas-native had left behind around $5 million worth of assets.
Lewis was legally announced dead back in 2002 at the age of 64, a total of 5 years later and the fifth anniversary of his disappearance.
For those who are unsure, let us clear it, Baskin was involved in a legal battle with Lewis’ children over his assets and the latter received a total of $1 million while Netflix star bagged the remaining fortune.
The couple got married in 1991 and they established the Big Cat Rescue together in 1992. Though they were working together but after Lewis vanished, his first wife, Gladys, alleged that he wanted to divorce Carole shortly after their wedding.
Lewis and Carole had 3 daughters and an adopted son with his first wife Gladys. Don Lewis’ children and his wife Gladys alleged that Baskin murdered Lewis and fed him to the big cats.
