Don Geronimo caught making s*xist comments towards female reporter

According to reports, Geronimo made a number of derogatory and sexist remarks towards WUSA9 Washington, D.C. reporter Sharla McBride. Don made the comments while talking to his co-host Crash Young. He even remarked “Hi, Barbie girl” while she passed by him. Geronimo came across McBride in a later segment under the program, where he mentioned that she was the lady his co-host Young had described as “tight.” To which Young replies, “Yah. I screamed tight when she was.…”, before getting interrupted. Geronimo continued the conversation and said that she must be a “cheerleader.”

While speaking on the issue, McBride stated that she felt “hurt” by the remarks about her on the radio show. She revealed how she felt incredibly insulted and embarrassed stating:

In my 17 years as a professional journalist, I have never been disrespected in such a blatant manner while trying to do my job. Their words were sexist and misogynistic. No woman should experience this in the workplace, and I appreciate the Commanders’ swift response in handling this matter.”

Don Geronimo fired for making remarks on air

The Commanders recently signed a three-year partnership agreement with WBIG-FM back in 2022. iHeartMedia, a mass media corporation, owns WBIG-FM. Following the viral incident, the company’s D.C. Region president Aaron Hyland shared in a statement that they have let go of Don Geronimo from WBIG following an internal review. He further added that the company takes matters like this very seriously and that Geronimo’s behavior do not align with their core values.

Meanwhile, the Commanders barred the station from airing another previously taped interview with new owner Josh Harris. The team also restricted Geronimo and Young from attending the training camp on Friday. As of now, there are no reports on whether Young also received any sort of penalty like Geronimo.
