Who Is Avinash Das?

Avinash Das is a famous journalist turned filmmaker who was frequently in new for his provocative comments and for spreading fake news. In the most recent instance, he made provocative comments against Hindu Gods which is causing a lot of ruckuses recently.

On January 14, 1976, Avinash Das was born in Darbhanga, Bihar, India and is currently aged 46. In Ranchi, Jharkhand, he completed his education.

His Career

In 1996, he started working as a journalist. He spent a year in 1997 researching the Aravalli water revolution for his five books under the mentorship of Magsaysay Award recipient Rajendra Singh.

He served as Prabhat Khabar’s Feature Editor in 2000 before taking on the role of Resident Editor for the Patna and Deoghar editions. Later, he worked as the executive editor for Dainik Bhaskar and the output editor for NDTV India.

He relocated to Mumbai in 2014 to start creating movies. His first film as a filmmaker, Anarkali of Arrah, was released in 2017 and stars Swara Bhaskar as the lead female character. He also directed the Netflix original “She.”

He is the author of five books: Ji Utthi Jahajwali Nadi, Mohan Shrotriya, Saras Gayi Sarsa, Fir Se Bahne Lagi Ruparel, Arwari Nadi Ke Punarjanam Ki Katha, and Sammaan Ka Pani Lane Wali Bhagani Tildeh.

Apart from this, he also served as a guest scholar for many colleges including Makhan Lal Chaturvedi University.

Filmmaker Avinash Das has been charged by the Gujarat police for sharing an image of Home Minister Amit Shah with IAS officer Pooja Singhal, who was recently detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering investigation.

According to the official, the picture he posted on Twitter shows Shah and Singhal at a public event five years ago, but Das shared it to mislead people and harm the minister’s reputation.

According to the official, Das was also arrested for allegedly defaming the national flag by publishing a modified image of a lady wearing the tricolour on his Facebook account on March 17.
