LSU student-athlete Dillon Reidenauer passes away
Dillon Reidenauer was a student-athlete from LSU who recently passed away following a fatal car accident. According to reports, the tragic accident occurred around 9 p.m. as Reidenauer was driving her Honda Accord near South Quad Drive. Her vehicle reportedly collided with a motorcycle while making a left turn. The accident also led to the death of 23-year-old Bohdi Linton. Authorities are still continuing investigations over the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Age 18 Dillon Reidenauer was a student of Louisiana State University (LSU) who was born and raised in Abita Springs, Louisiana. As a student athlete, Dillon earned recognition at the state level for her dedication to track and field, particularly in the pole vault event. Dillon notably cleared 3.64 meters to win the silver medal during the 2024 Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Championships. She was a promising addition to LSU’s track and field team, and with a bright collegiate career ahead of her.
Born on May 30, 2006, in Slidell, LA, she was the daughter of Aundrea and Brad Reidenauer and had one sibling. Her plans were to pursue a degree in interior design at LSU.
One of the best pole vaulters in the state of Louisiana coming out of high school, she finished second outdoors at the LHSAA State Championships with a clearance of 3.64 meters (11’ 11.25”) and earned bronze indoors a the LHSAA State Championship with a clearance of 3.71 meters (12’ 2”). She held a high school personal-best clearance of 3.81 meters (12’ 6”) in pole vault.
Education
Dillon Reidenauer graduated from Fontainebleau High School in May 2024 and was in her first year at Louisiana State University.
Tributes and condolences
Following the incident, LSU Athletics expressed their grief through an official statement on X, saying:
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of freshman Dillon Reidenauer.”
They further added:
LSU Athletics is heartbroken to share the tragic news of the passing of freshman track and field student-athlete Dillon Reidenauer in a traffic incident Wednesday evening in Baton Rouge. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dillon’s family, friends, and teammates, as well as with those impacted by the loss of another individual who died as a result of the incident.”
Meanwhile, LSU track and field coach Dennis Shaver also mourned the loss of Reidenauer, stating:
We are devastated by the tragic passing of Dillon Reidenauer, who was taken from us much too soon. Everyone in our LSU Track & Field family is keeping Dillon’s loved ones in our thoughts and prayers, as well as those of the other individual lost in the incident.”
Dillon’s track and field coach from her high school, Sam Sanders, also spoke about the sudden loss, stating:
It was a very somber day. It’s difficult to process — losing someone so quickly like that.”
