Dennis Tito and his wife Akiko, are making headlines as the two are all set to ride Space X’s Starship rocket around the moon. Here’s everything that you might need to know about the two.
The couple have been married for almost 2 years. As per a report by CNBC, the duo have bought seats for a private trip with Elon’s brand Starship rocket.
As of now the cost of the tickets for the moon trip has not been disclosed. The upcoming flight is going to be the third such spaceflight by Elon Musk’s Space X.
For now the date of the trip has not been announced. However, it has been stated that the space voyage will last for almost one week.
During this time, the rocket will come within 200 kilometres of the moon’s surface however it will not land there.
On Wednesday, in a press conference, Tito stated that, “I’ve been wanting to go to the moon since my first trip to space.”
Dennis and his wife are the first members of the crew on Starship’s second commercial journey around the moon.

According to the reports by Celebrity Net Worth portal, Dennis Tito’s estimated net worth in 2022 is somewhat around $1 billion.
In an interview with CBS Mornings, Dennis went on to say that he and his wife are quite excited about the fun adventure.
He also revealed that, “here we were at SpaceX (recently) and they were interested in talking about a space flight. And I brought it up. And within a few minutes, we both were on board.”
In a separate interview at Space X’s Starship development complex, Tito was seen saying, “We will be able to watch the Earth get smaller, smaller and smaller, and the moon get larger, and larger and larger.
“We will then, upon emerging from the far side of the moon, see the Earth from a perspective only the Apollo astronauts have enjoyed to date.”
For those who are unaware let us tell you, Dennis Tito is an American engineer and entrepreneur.
Tito was born in Queens, New York, on August 8, 1940. Back in 2001, he became the first space tourist to pay for his own travel to the International Space Station while he was onboard Russia’s Soyuz TM-32 mission.
The entrepreneur completed his graduation in Science of Astronautics and Aeronautics in 1962 from the New York University.
Later he went on to do a Master’s Degree in Science in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, in 1964.
Throughout his career as an aeronautical engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, he got a chance to witness the Mars Mariner 4 and 9 missions.
In 1972, he decided to switch his career as he went on to the field of finance. At the time, Tito co-founded an American investment company named Wilshire Associates.
The company is located in Santa Monica, California. In the 1990s, he went on to join the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners.
At the time he led them in supporting the landmark 1994 state ruling to protect Mono Lake from excessive water diversions by city.
The 82-year-old Dennis is quite well known around the world and he is also considered as the pioneer in the use of mathematical tools in astronautics to the analysis of financial market risks.
