DeMeco Ryans brief bio
DeMeco Ryans is an American football coach and former linebacker born on July 28, 1984 in Bessemer, Alabama, U.S. He is currently working as the newly appointed head coach for the Houston Texans in the National Football League (NFL). Ryans started out his career in football by playing college football at the University of Alabama. He was named a unanimous All-America during his time in college.
Player Career
Before becoming a coach, DeMeco played in the NFL as a linebacker. The 38-year-old began his career with the Texans who picked him in the second round of the 2006 NFL draft. He played with the team for six seasons. During his debut season, he won defensive rookie of the year.
He was even selected to two Pro Bowls while playing with the Texans. After playing for ten years, Ryans served as the inside linebackers coach for the Niners. He then spent the last two seasons as defensive coordinator for the 49ers. There he received widespread praise, as the 49ers conceded the fewest points in the NFL during the 2022 season.
According to various sources, DeMeco signed a six-year contract with the Texans. The franchise officially introduced him as their sixth full-time coach on Thursday, 2 February.

DeMeco is currently 38-years-old and stands at a height of 6 ft 1 in or 1.85 m.
Wife
DeMeco Ryans is currently married to his wife Jamila Ryans, whom he met while playing for the Houston Texans. The couple tied the knot in Pearland, Texas, on June 29, 2013 and they have stayed together ever since.
Jamila works as a registered nurse and she is also a non-profit director for the DeMeco Ryans Foundation. Her Instagram account handle is @jamilaryans and she currently has over 435 followers. It is however a private account.

DeMeco and Jamila have three children together, two sons named MJ and Micah, and a daughter named Xia.

Following DeMeco’s appointment, the Texans are now the first team in NFL history to hire three successive Black head coaches.
As of January 2023, Ryans is reportedly worth an astounding $33 million and while playing for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles, he earned a salary amounting to $48,920,000.
While DeMeco Ryans’ remuneration as San Francisco’s defensive coordinator is not known, it is believed that NFL teams offer their defensive coaches anywhere between $3.5 million and $4.5 million annually.
According to sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, his Texans deal is for six years.
