Deepak Parekh, a manager of Oreva company is making headlines following the bridge collapse in Gujarat’s Morbi
Deepak, who worked as a managerial position and was the responsible for the maintenance of Morbi bridge which recent collapsed and killed nearly 135 people has stated that the collapse was the “will of the God” in the court of law.

Deepak Parekh, manager of the Oreva group responsible for repairing the #MorbiBridge, said that it was "will of God" that the disastrous tragedy happened, when he was confronted for not repairing the rusted & dilapidated bridge cable.

Parekh is among those 9 people, who have been arrested after the historical 150 year old bridge collapsed on Sunday in Gujarat.
He reportedly stated in front of Chief Judicial Magistrate, MJ Khan, that, “Everyone worked very hard, from the managing director of the company to the lower level employees, but it was the will of God that such an unfortunate event happened.”
Apart from him, the police has nabbed the another managers of the group along with 2 sub-contractors.
The police has also taken into custody the 5 more people, among whom the security guards and ticket booking clearks are also found.
For those who are unaware, let us tell you, Deepak Parekh worked for the Oreva group, which is a private company and was under the contract for repairing and maintaining the bridge.
Primarily, the group which is a manufacturer of clocks and electrical appliances has claimed that, the brand has used “improved technologies.”
They also claimed that the bridge will last for approximately 8 to 10 years without any danger to the public.
As per reports, earlier a senior official of the company stated that, “The rehabilitation of this bridge cost Rs 2 crore, the bridge could take the weight of only about 125 people.”
However as per reports, when the bridge was collapsed on Sunday, it had more than 400 people cramming over it.
The brigde was originally built in 1887 by the erstwhile Morbi ruler Vaghji Thakor. The bridge was under maintenance and was under the contract to be close.
However, it was officially opened to the public by the company’s managing director Jaysukh Patel and his family in the presence of all media members on October 26.
As per local authorities, the brand hasn’t notified the authorities about the re-opening of the bridge after the renovations work.
The authorities are also alleging that the company hasn’t obtained any fitness certificate for the opening of the bridge.
