Dawid officially announced his retirement from international cricket today, on August 28, 2024. Throughout his career, Malan played 22 Tests, 30 ODIs, and 62 T20Is for England.
Notably, Malan and Jos Buttler are the only England batters to have scored centuries across all three formats of cricket. Malan confirmed his decision to retire after being left out of the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia.

He currently plays for Yorkshire in English domestic cricket, having previously played for Middlesex. He is the son of Janet Malan, and Dawid Malan Sr., who played domestic cricket in South Africa and England. Dawid has a brother named Charl Malan, and a sister named Linรฉ Malan.

Malan started out his cricketing career at the domestic level with MCC Young Cricketers in 2006. He then joined Boland in South Africa during the 2005/2006 season, before joining Middlesex. He made his debut for Middlesex during a Twenty20 Cup match against Surrey, back on July 7, 2006.
In 2007, Malan become the top-scorer in the Second XI Championship, with a total of 969 runs. He then made his first-class debut for Middlesex in June 2008, scoring an impressive unbeaten score of 132 runs. Malan eventually made his Test debut in July 2017 during England’s third Test match against South Africa. He scored an impressive 78 runs and earned the Player of the Match award.
Dawid Malan also scored the fastest century by an Englishman in T20Is back in 2019 against New Zealand. Malan also had a brief stint in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and he was among the few foreign players that agreed to play in the final in Lahore despite major security concerns.
