He did his schooling at East St. Louis Lincoln High School and East St. Louis Senior High School in East St. Louis, Illinois. He had been a member of the Alabama basketball team for three seasons and was in his third year as a student at UA.

He attended IMG Academy before enrolling at UA, and the 247Sports Composite rated him as a three-star talent right out of high school. Georgetown, Rhode Island, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and Rutgers all made offers, but he chose Alabama.

Darius Miles is a basketball player who played for the University of Alabama and has spent the last two and a half seasons primarily as a bench player for Alabama. He participated in 53 games, starting two in his sophomore year in 2021–2022 and was one of the five high school recruits Alabama signed for their 2020 recruiting class.

He was regarded as the fourth-best signee overall by the 247 Sports aggregate, with a three-star rating and the No. 159 national ranking and additionally, he played for the IMG Academy post-graduate team in Florida and Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, D.C.
