On May 29, 2023, inside an apartment block in downtown Los Angeles, Darez is said to have been a member of a group who attacked Cristopher Griffith. According to TMZ, Griffith is saying that the incident caused him emotional grief as well as physical discomfort.
Along with other items he believes were taken from him during the incident, he is suing Darez for $100,000 in jewellery. The incident happened on May 29 in a downtown Los Angeles apartment complex. As they take the victim from the lift, the victim is shown on camera being kicked in the face during the altercation.

In 2013, Darez joined the Morgan State Bears for his college football career. He then moved to the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He entered the football pitch in the same footsteps as his older brother, Stefon Diggs.
