Dan Hardy started out his martial arts training at the young age of five with Taekwondo. He soon began competing in the sport at the age of 7, and during his teens, Hardy tried out other martial arts like karate, jujutsu, judo, Wushu, Muay Thai, and kickboxing. Hardy eventually switched to MMA at the age of 20 and stuck to it.
After having a fallout with his then coach, he had to start seeking training partners online. During this time, he used the alias ‘The Outlaw’, which eventually became his moniker. Hardy started out his professional career back in 2004 and fought a total of 36 times. During his time as an active fighter, Hardy was once the Cage Warriors welterweight champion and even fought for the UFC title once. He maintained a record of 14 KO wins and two submission wins on his record. In total, he had an impressive professional record of 25-10-0.
One of his biggest career highlights was back in 2010, when he competed for the UFC Welterweight title against Georges St-Pierre. The pair faced off at UFC 111, where he lost the fight to ‘Rush’ via a unanimous decision. Hardy officially retired in 2013 and switched to the role of a commentator and analyst in the UFC. I’m a little bit older now, absolutely. But of course, if we’ve got a masters division and I’ve got a few good ideas in mind. Anthony Pettis has always been someone I’ve had a lot of respect for, and his name has been thrown around a few times regarding a future opponent for me. So, maybe that’s an option. We’ll see.”
