Daimion Collins transfers to LSU

20-year-old Wildcats player Daimion Collins has decided to transfer to LSU after spending two years at the University of Kentucky. Daimion will now join the likes of star player KJ Williams at the LSU. The LSU Tigers have struggled unlike their counterparts in the women’s division. The team is hopeful that their fortunes will change with the arrival of Collins.

Collins excels in several aspects of the sport particularly around the rim. According to various reports, he is quite exceptional in scoring and he is also a high-level shot blocker. The young college athlete is still yet to have his breakout season despite being a star in high school and his move to LSU might just be the spark he needs to achieve it.

Daimion Collins brief bio

Daimion Collins is an American college basketball player who recently joined the LSU Tigers who compete in the Southeastern Conference. He was born on 28 October 2002, in Atlanta, Texas, United States and he attended the Atlanta ISD High School. Collins was a consensus five-star recruit and also one of the top power forwards in the 2021 class. While back in high school, Collins held the reputation of an elite scorer and also showcased some high-level defense.

Age and height

Daimion is currently 20 years old and stands at a height of 2.06 m

Weight and position

Daimion weighs around 95 kg and primarily plays as a power forward. He has shown that he’s a different player this time around and 6-9 forward with a 7-3 wingspan has ridiculous athleticism — a 46.5-inch vertical at Pro Day — is clearly more comfortable and confident entering this season.

His dad Ben Collins passed away Nov. 1 at the age of 43. The Texas native had spent the previous few days in Lexington and was in the gym putting up shots with his son the night before his death and Daimion Collins’ 20th birthday came just four days before his father passed away.

Daimion Collins stats and record

Prior to joining college, Daimion played basketball in high school as well, and his numbers gave him MVP honors. During his junior year, Daimion averaged 24.6 points and 13.7 rebounds along with 7.7 blocks per game. The following year, as a senior, Daimion’s stats skyrocketed, averaging 35.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6.2 blocks per game. Collins reportedly helped the Atlanta High School win multiple area and district titles and awards.

However, Daimion has failed to achieve the same success in college. During his first year as a Freshmen, Daimion averaged only 2.9 points and 2 rebounds per game. The following season, which was the current 2022-23 season, he averaged only 1.9 points and 1.9 assists per game. Moreover, Daimion Collins only averaged under 8 minutes per game, which significantly contributed to his decline in productivity.

Awards and achievements

Daimion has also won various awards and achievements throughout the years. Daimion won awards like Texas Gatorade Player of the Year, Naismith, and MaxPreps All-American Third and First Team respectively.
