Who is DaFuqBoom as ‘Skibidi toilet’ toilets videos go viral on TikTok, Twitter and YouTube
DaFuqBoom is a Georgia-based animator whose real name is Alexey. His vicious and tantalising videos of singing toilet people fighting a series of hardware-headed people have garnered the attention of millions of people.
A “Season 14” video compilation that was uploaded to YouTube received more than 800,000 views within three hours of its release. It’s an incredible rate that Alexey claims he wasn’t prepared for.
He said, “I didn’t anticipate having it that huge, but it started getting more and more views. When [episodes] 8–9 were released, it began to blow up significantly.”
Upping The Ante, DaFuqBoom Goes From Parody To War
The song may also be familiar because it briefly became a popular TikTok meme in 2022. A TikTok user brought it to light by belly dancing while receiving mountains of food.
However, DaFuqBoom was inspired by Paryss Bryanne. The Skibidi Toilet series was born as a result of her erratic movements and swift transitions to new positions.
“I parodied her interpretation of the ‘skibidi dop dop yes yes’ meme. Simply based on an unexpected head popping out of the toilet, the Skibidi toilet video was an unplanned event.”
Using Source Filmmaker, Alexey has been animating for about nine years. The programme, which Valve launched in 2012, was behind the fantastic Team Fortress 2 commercials.
With its easy-to-pick-up nature, DaFuqBoom also had its own community that recreated movie scenes or created war epics.
When he was questioned about DaFuqBoom selecting Source Filmmaker, he responded that it was because it was so simple, “A wonderful UI and easier access to various resources.”
He said, “The entire process, including lighting and rendering, would take three times as long, but I can animate in Blender as well.”
He also makes sure to provide due acknowledgement to the creators of the materials he uses in each film.
YouTube Is Flooded With Skibidi
Since DaFuqBoom began posting the series of videos in February, it has amassed an incredible 10 million subscribers as of May. In a matter of weeks, Alexey has amassed 2.8 million followers on TikTok and 15.8 million subscribers on YouTube.
The Nature of Toilet Videos
The videos depend heavily on visuals rather than having a strong narrative that is explicitly communicated. There are toilet people that were created using resources from Counter-Strike: Source and Half-Life 2. All that is left are people in suits with cameras for heads after these animals infected or destroyed the human race.
Each video features the two sides in a tug-of-war. The toilets get more aggressive in the following episode once the cameramen figure out how to defeat them. More characters are introduced as the story progresses. Speaker-headed individuals and, more lately, terrifying, enigmatic TV individuals who use THX sound to slay their foes.
Each episode concludes with a kind of jump scare or a thumbs-up for a job well done. TV characters use emoticons to convey their emotions, and those with speakers on their heads are often dancing.
DaFuqBoom Increases The Bar
With each minute-long film, the animation quality and level of each fight improve from the very straightforward beginning of these videos.
The various animations in these movies, most recently including a toilet with spider legs, are amazing to see. For the past three weeks, DaFuqBoom has been releasing a video every day. You start to question how one person can maintain the pace.
DaFuqBoom Needs To Take It Slow
Alexey acknowledges that he has had to reduce his upload frequency to “[two] days because the quality of the videos has increased.”
He is also not mistaken, as the videos have progressed from showing toilets performing the theme tune to actual battles. As a massive GMan toilet fires laser beams from its eyes, speakers soar overhead.
However, the music has started to lose focus. The videos are more about the ongoing conflict than a meme, even as the toilets screech or bellow it out.
In the midst of it all, Alexey created a mobile video game adaptation.
