Born on September 16, 1994, Bruno Petkovic is 28 years old and plays football professionally for Dinamo Zagreb and the Croatian National Football Team. He is 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in) tall.

Petkovic was born in the Croatian city of Metkovic. While his father Jakov Petkovic is from Metkovic, his mother Ruza Nizic is a Herzegovinian Croat who is from Crveni Grm, a village near Ljubuski. Growing up, he looked up to Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in football as his idols. His youth career was started with his hometown teams ONK Metkovic and NK Neretva until he joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2007.

He remained there until September 4, 2009, when he moved to the young players’ academy of NK Zagreb, a rival city team located across the city. He played for NK HASK (2010–11) and Hrvatski Dragovoljac (2011–12) in the following two seasons before relocating to Italy to play for Serie A team Catania.

Against Liechtenstein on August 13, 2013, when Croatia’s U21 team thrashed them 5-0, he only gained one youth cap and that game saw him scoring a goal. In order to replace the injured Marko Pjaca, he received his first senior Croatia call-up on March 11. In a Euro 2020 qualifying match against Azerbaijan on March 21, 2019, he made his competitive debut. He scored his first goal for the national team against Tunisia on June 11 in a friendly game.

He contributed four goals and an assist to Croatia’s positive UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying campaign. He finished the qualifying rounds having scored the most goals in his group. Although the 2020-21 Nations League was postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Petkovic faced criticism for his ineffectiveness in the national team during Croatia’s poor campaign, where they managed to win just three points in six games.
