Who is Tanmay Agarwal?

Indian cricket player Tanmay Dharamchand Agarwal was born on May 3, 1995, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India and now plays for Hyderabad.

A look at Tanmay Agarwal’s career and records

Agarwal is a top-order left-hand batsman who has played for Hyderabad at several age groups, including Under-14, Under-16, Under-19, Under-22, and Under-25. In 2014, he made his first-class and List-A cricket debuts for Hyderabad, scoring hundreds of runs in each.

For the 2017 Indian Premier League, the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad purchased him in February 2017. He we again bought by the same franchise in the next year’s auction.

Tanmay’s fastest triple century is not the only record he made this century. His triple century saw him hit the third-most sixes of any hitter in a first-class innings with 21. He has made several other records as well.

He took 119 balls to smash a double century which is the fastest by any player from India. Earlier, this record was held by Ravi Shastri which he held against Baroda in 123 balls in 1985. Another record; Tanmay’s milestone was attained in 183 minutes, the second fastest time taken, only surpassed by Denis Compton’s 1948 MCC triple tonne versus North Eastern Transvaal, which came in 181 minutes (261 balls).

Tanmay is also the first Indian batsman to amass more than 300 runs in a single day of first-class cricket play. The highest score by an Indian in a single day of play was 284 by Virender Sehwag on the second day of the 2009 Brabourne Test against Sri Lanka.
