A look at Sourabh Kumar’s career

Sourabh Kumar made his First Class debut in 2014. His record is outstanding, with 2061 runs and 290 wickets at an average of 24.41 in 68 matches.

On January 8, 2016, the 30-year-old made his Twenty20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the 2015–16 season. In four matches of the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, he was Uttar Pradesh’s top wicket-taker with 23 dismissals.

He was acquired for 10 lakhs in February 2017 by the Rising Pune Supergiants side in preparation for the 2017 Indian Premier League. He was added to the India Blue team in July 2018 in preparation for the 2018–19 Duleep Trophy. Having dismissed nineteen times in three matches, he was the tournament’s top wicket-taker.

In the Ranji Trophy encounter between Haryana and the Indian team in December 2018, Kumar claimed 14 wickets for a total of 65 runs. With 50 wickets in nine matches during the Ranji Trophy group stage of 2018, he led Uttar Pradesh in wicket-taking. After ten matches, he finished the competition with 51 wickets.

He was included in India’s Test team for their series against England in January 2021 as one of five net bowlers. Kumar was acquired by the Punjab Kings in the IPL auction in February 2021, one month before the 2021 Indian Premier League.

Kumar has participated in multiple India A trips. Notably, he grabbed 15 wickets in two matches during the Bangladesh visit in 2022, which helped India A win the series.

He was once more included in the Indian Test team, this time for the series against Sri Lanka, in February 2022. He later was involved in the 2nd Test squad against England in 2024.
