The ace batsman had accumulated 22 runs off only 16 balls with a barrage of boundaries and a soaring six before falling victim to Siddharth’s cunning. Notably, it was the 25-year-old’s first IPL wicket.

As Tamil Nadu spinner Manimaran Siddharth entered the game in the fourth over, Kohli welcomed him with a thunderous boundary through the off-side. Siddharth was initially nervous, but he didn’t flinch; he delivered a ball that was fuller and slightly slower.

Kohli, advancing down the track, was deceived by the turn, resulting in a mistimed shot that lobbed to a backward point. His old opening partner, Devdutt Padikkal, raced back calmly to secure an easy catch.

Claiming the prized wicket of Kohli is a milestone every bowler cherishes, and for Siddharth, it was a moment of utter fulfillment. He threw open his arms and ran across the field, jumping up and down and giving his partner, spinner Ravi Bishnoi, joyful high fives.
