Dhawal is a lower-order batsman and right-arm medium-pace bowler. He plays cricket for Mumbai in first class and for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
He was chosen to play for the Indian Test team for the 2009 away series against New Zealand because of his reliable performance in both the domestic and IPL seasons. However, he was not chosen to participate in any of the series’ three Test matches.
