Who’s Amanjot Kaur?
For those who are curious to know about the Indian cricketer, let us tell you, Kaur, who is now enjoying her award of Player of the Match in the tri-series against South Africa has started her journey from playing gully cricket with school and neighborhood boys.
In an earlier conversation, the 23-year-old revealed that it has been a challenging path for Punjab cricketers, who not only changed cities but travelled back and forth across the states with limited means to play cricket.
Though many couldn’t believe that she would make it to nationals, her father had stood by her side like a rock and guided her in everything.
Her father enrolled her in an academy when she was 15 years old. He not just reduced his business by half but took carpentry so he could accompany her daughter for practice sessions.
Kaur, who is a student of MCM DAV College, presently plays for the Punjab Cricket Association. Prior to moving to the PCA, her skills and experience helped the Chandigarh senior women’s team through several matches.
In a recent interview, Kaur, credited her selection to all who believed in her and especially to her father who never lost faith in her. Her father is a carpenter but his and her family members names aren’t known.
In her statement she stated that, “It has been a childhood dream ever since I started playing cricket, and to be able to live this dream now makes me so grateful especially looking back from where I came.”
