Craig Fulton has been named the new Chief Coach of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team, know his and biography

Fulton replaces Graham Reid, who had resigned following India’s failure to reach the quarter-finals of the FIH hockey World Cup and represented South Africa at the Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004 Olympics and earned 195 international caps in a career spanning over a decade.

Fulton’s first assignment with the Indian team will be their home games in the FIH Pro League 2022-23 against world champions Germany and world No. 4 Australia in Rourkela later this month and will take on Germany in the first match on March 10 and their second match against Germany will be played on March 13.

Fulton, a South African who is 48 years old and has been a coach for almost 25 years, will join the team as soon as all the paperwork is done.

Fulton really believes in leadership, and his track record as a coach is impressive. His rise to fame began when, from 2014 to 2018, he was the Head Coach of the Irish Men’s Team. During that time, the team qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. This was the first time the Irish team had made it to the Olympics in 100 years. Craig Fulton was also named FIH Coach of the Year in 2015 for this historic achievement.

After that, Craig Fulton worked as an assistant coach for Belgium, which was the reigning Olympic champion. In Tokyo, Belgium won the Gold medal. He was also part of the coaching staff for the Belgian team when they won the World Cup in Bhubaneswar in 2018.

Fulton was named Belgium Coach of the Year 2023 because he led the Belgium club that won the Belgium League. He has also helped the Belgium national hockey team move up in the world rankings, from World No. 5 in 2018 to World No. 3 in 2023.

Craig Fulton has played international hockey for 10 years with the South African team and has 195 international caps. He played for South Africa at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 and in Athens in 2004. He has also played in the Commonwealth Games and the World Cup.

Craig Arthur Fulton said, “It is an honour to be appointed in the role of Chief Coach for the Indian Men’s Hockey team. India has a deep history and legacy of the sport, and I look forward to work to taking this forward with the current team which has some very promising talent.”
