Craig Fulton bio
Craig Fulton is a former South Africa men’s field hockey international turned coach who was born on November 6, 1974. Fulton was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and has a brother named Grant Fulton, who is also a former hockey player. He is currently serving as the coach of the Indian men’s national field hockey team. During his time as a player, he played as a midfielder/forward and represented South Africa at the 1996 and 2004 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2002 Men’s Hockey World Cup.
Fulton is the highest paid among the foreign coaches at the 2024 Olympics with a monthly salary of $18,724.

Career and achievements
As a player Craig mainly featured in the South African national hockey team as a midfielder/forward from 1996 to 2005. He represented the team across various continental and international tournaments. He took up the role of a player/coach with of Chelmsford in the Men’s England Hockey League from 1999-2005.
He then joined the Pembroke Wanderers in 2005 as the director of coaching and player/coach to the senior men’s team. During his time there, he won two Irish Senior Cups, two Men’s Irish Hockey League titles as well as the prestigious EuroHockey Club Trophy.
Fulton briefly returned to South Arica in 2011, and held several coaching positions including Assistant Coach of both the South Africa women’s (2011) and men’s (2013–2014) national teams. He also served as the coach for the Northern Blues and technical director with the University of Pretoria.
From 2006 and 2009, Fulton also served as Assistant Coach of the Ireland men’s national field hockey team. He eventually succeeded Andrew Meredith as the senior Ireland coach in 2014. Fulton guided Ireland to third place at the 2015 Men’s EuroHockey Nations Championship. Under him the team also qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup.
During his time there, Fulton was named as the 2015 FIH Men’s Coach of the Year. However, in May 2018 Craig Fulton resigned after accepting an offer to become Assistant Coach of the Belgium men’s national field hockey team. He served in the role when Belgium won the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He currently serves as the coach of the Indian national hockey team.
