A 29-year-old lineman named Cory Patterson has been making headlines after he stole the plane at around 5 am on Saturday, September 3, from Tupelo Airport
He flewed the place in circles across the Mississippi for at least 5 hours. He also went on to threaten to intentionally crash the Beechcraft King Air 90 plane into a Walmart situated in Mississippi.

The Police Chief of Tupelo, John Quaka had a news conference on Saturday, September 3, where he said that the, “Negotiators from the Tupelo Police Department made contact with the pilot and were able to convince him to not carry out this deed and to land the airplane at Tupelo airport.”
John Quaka further said that, “He was getting close to running out of fuel.”
As per a report by the DailyMail, the Police Chief, Quaka stated that the motive behind Cory’s act is still unclear and the Tupelo Police will be working with the FBI to figure it out.
As per the police chief, although Cory had received flight instructions, Quaka believed that Patterson was not a licensed flight pilot.
As per reports, the plane crash-landed after several hours in a field near Gravestone, Ripley. The plane has been described in a condition of having “some damages” but it “remains intact.”
Cory was arrested by the cops under the charges of grand larceny and making terroristic threats, and is expected to face federal charges.
In a now-deleted post, Patterson wrote on Facebook, “Sorry everyone. Never actually wanted to hurt anyone. I love my parents and sister. This isn’t your fault. Goodbye.” It appears to be his last message.
As per reports, Cory Patterson is a lineman for Tupelo Aviation, who was in charge of fuelling the aircrafts. At the time of the theft, there weren’t any other employees in the tower.
After the threat given by Cory, authorities had evacuated the Walmart, which was the original location of the threat.
