A fatal incident took place on Saturday night, July 19, 2025, when authorities discovered the dead body of a teenager named Corey Adams inside a car outside a home on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova, Tennessee. Despite making efforts to save him, medical officials pronounced him dead at the scene. Corey was one of five people shot and the only one killed, while the other four suffered non-critical injuries.

Cause of death

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Corey died from a gunshot wound that he sustained during a shooting incident at around 10:14 p.m. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances and motive behind the shooting.

Following the news about the tragic death, the University of Mississippi’s football program shared a heartfelt statement, saying:

We are devastated to learn that Corey Adams, a freshman on the team, passed away last night in Cordova, Tennessee. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Corey always made us laugh. He had a big smile and brought good energy every day.”

Corey was the youngest of three children, and he lived with his parents and two older sisters in New Orleans. His mother worked as a schoolteacher, while his father works in construction. Corey was known as a loving brother and devoted son and often spent weekends helping with chores and family cookouts.
