The Hawkeyes’ outstanding cornerback Cooper DeJean was not chosen in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft which kicked off yesterday.

A look at Cooper DeJean’s career
In 2023, the defensive back was named unanimously an All-American while playing college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He ran for 1,235 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior, in addition to tossing 3,447 yards for 35 touchdowns. During the 2021 All-American Bowl, he was named the Adidas Player of the Year.
Despite his outstanding athletic record and four-star status, DeJean received few offers for college following high school. Rather than starting at quarterback for South Dakota State, he would want to play defence for Iowa.
Seven tackles, three 42-yard punt returns, and a 14-yard interception return for a touchdown later, DeJean was chosen as the 2022 Music City Bowl MVP in his collegiate career.
