Who is Gaurav Gogoi?
Gaurav Gogoi is an Indian politician, aligned with the Indian National Congress (INC). He has been in the news because his fierce speech in parliament is going viral on social media.
He was born on 4 September 1982 in Delhi, India. His father is the late Tarun Gogoi, who served as the longest-serving Chief Minister of Assam, his mother’s name is Dolly Gogoi. He also has one sister, whose name is Chandrima Gogoi.
Gaurav Gogoi did his schooling at St. Columba’s School in Delhi. After that, he graduated from Indraprastha University in Delhi with a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2004. Afterward, he moved to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in public administration at New York University.
He is married and his wife is UK-born Elizabeth Colebourn. They are parents to a boy and a girl.

His career
After starting his career in the marketing team at Airtel, Gaurav Gogoi later relocated to the USA. But once he got back, he went into politics and said he would do whatever it took to help the party. Gogoi was nominated by the Congress Party in March 2014 to represent the Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat.
Obtaining 443,315 votes, he defeated Mrinal Kumar Saikia of the BJP, his nearest opponent, by a wide margin of more than 93,000 votes in his first election.
Aside from this, Gaurav Gogoi is also well known for being a social worker, having joined the Delhi-based NGO Pravah in 2005.
