Perry is the bull to reflect the city’s long relationship with the animal. It is covered in multi-coloured hexagons which illustrate the coming together of athletes and supporters across 72 participating nations in the event.

Meet the new Mascot ‘Perryʼ

Perry is the first Mascot at a multi-sport game created to highlight the values in reality, allowing people to pose with Perry in their own homes.

Perry is inspired by the design of 10-year-old Emma Lou

Perry is designed by 10-year-old Emma Lou from Bolton, the winner of the national children’s design competition.

The national children’s design competition was held during the summers of 2020. The competition included the children of 5-15 years of age creating a mascot that shows the identity, culture and heritage of Birmingham and the West Midlands. The competition saw 50 children from across Birmingham and West Midlands taking part in it.

Perry has become an icon for the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. It will be the biggest sports event after London Olympics 2012 to be held in the UK. It is believed that the event will witness a global audience of more than one billion people.

Perry is named after the Perry Barr area of Birmingham, the home of the newly transformed Alexander Stadium, which will host the athletic events and opening & closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games 2022.

The mascot’s rainbow-coloured hexagons represent the coming together of the athletes and people across the 72 participating Commonwealth nations in equal partnership with the people of Birmingham and the West Midland.

Perry is a friendly, kind and cheeky bull, an animal with which Birmingham has been identical for centuries.Perry is wearing a medal, which represents the iconic jewellery quarter of Birmingham. The city has had a market area known as the Bull Ring with an iconic bronze bull statue since the 16th century.

The Mascot’s sports kit includes blue, red and yellow stripes, a nod to the colours of the official flag of Birmingham.
