Ed Piskor passed away on April 1, 2024. The news was confirmed by his sister in a heartfelt post on Facebook, where she requested prayers for their grieving family. The viewing is scheduled for Thursday, 4/4, at the Savolskis Wasik Glenn funeral home in Munhall.

41-year-old Edward R. Piskor Jr. aka Ed Piskor was born on July 28, 1982. He attended The Kubert School.

Piskor is survived by his loving parents, Edward R., Sr., and Diane (Blazevich) Piskor; cherished siblings, Robert (Natalie) Piskor, Justine (Joshua) Cleaves, and Brianna Piskor; and nieces and nephews, Lucy, Calvin, Carson, and Brynn.”

Piskor’s Eisner Award-winning series, Hip Hop Family Tree, was a seminal work that chronicled the history of hip hop culture and the artists who shaped it. His ability to blend historical narrative with engaging storytelling set him apart as a visionary in the world of comics. In 2018, Piskor ventured into the world of mainstream comics with X-Men: Grand Design, a mini-series that reimagined the history of the X-Men for a new generation of fans.

In 2020, Piskor took a bold step by serializing his graphic novel, Red Room, on his Patreon page. The story, which delved into the dark world of underground internet snuff films, showcased Piskor’s versatility as an artist and storyteller. The graphic novel was later published in hard copy format in 2021, further solidifying Piskor’s reputation as a master of his craft.


In March 2024, Piskor’s career was marred by allegations of s*xual misconduct. A female cartoonist accused Ed Piskor of engaging in inappropriate communication with her via social media when she was still a minor. Another female cartoonist alleged that Piskor had offered to trade an industry contact for a s*xual favour.

These allegations led to the deletion of Piskor’s social media accounts and the temporary takedown of the Cartoonist Kayfabe YouTube channel, which he co-hosted with Jim Rugg.


Tragically, Piskor’s life came to a sudden and untimely end on April 1, 2024, when he was found dead in Munhall, Pennsylvania. His death occurred just hours after he posted a message online implying his intention to take his own life with him committing suicide.

Despite the controversies surrounding his final days, Ed Piskor’s legacy as a comic artist and storyteller remains intact. His innovative approach to storytelling and his passion for the medium inspired countless artists and fans alike.
