After enrolling in the Ajax Youth Academy in 2010, Ryan Gravenberch advanced through the junior ranks. He was awarded the inaugural “Abdelhak Nouri Trofee” on June 7, 2018, which honours the top Ajax academy prospect.
That same day, he agreed to his first professional deal with Ajax, which would keep him there until 2023. Gravenberch made his professional debut on August 24, 2018, when Jong Ajax defeated Dordrecht 5–2 in the Eerste Divisie.
On September 23, 2018, Gravenberch made his senior debut for Ajax in a 3–0 Eredivisie defeat to PSV. At 16 years and 130 days, he broke Clarence Seedorf’s record of 16 years and 242 days to become the youngest Ajax player to ever play in the Eredivisie.
