However, sources close to the 45-year-old claim that he is second-guessing the decision due to Salzburg’s rigid stance on his future and the fact that he agreed to a new four-year deal.

Who Is Christoph Freund?
Christoph Freund is a former Austrian soccer player and Salzburg Football Club sporting director. He has been in the news because he was anticipated to join Chelsea as the club’s next sports director. But before joining the club, many uncertainties over his joining are causing a lot of buzzes.
He was born in Austria on July 2, 1977. He is a citizen of Austria.
Since he was a little child, he has been interested in football. He is graduated. However, his high school and college have not yet been revealed.
He is married and has kids. However, nothing much is known about her family.
He stands at 5 feet, 10 inches, or 1.78 m, and weighs around 70 kg. He is currently 45 years old.
His Career
In 1989, Christoph Freund started his soccer career by working with ESV Saalfelden. He changed teams in 1991, joining the SV Austria Salzburg youth squad. He was given a promotion to the Salzburg amateur team for the 1996–1997 campaign. He joined SC Kundl in 1997.
He transferred to the second division team WSG Wattens for the 1999–2000 season. On the second day of the season, in July 1999, he made his second-division debut.
However, he had to be dropped to the regional league with the Watteners in the 2000–01 season. He transferred to SC Untersiebenbrunn in the second level after being demoted. He spent a season in Lower Austria before joining ASV FC Puch in the Regionalliga West.
Christoph Freund signed up with FC Zell am See in the national league in 2003.
He began playing for FC Zell am See in the national league in 2003. In 2004, he moved up to the regional level with Zell am See. He joined the national league team SV Grödig in 2005. Freund relocated to SC Leogang in 2006, where he worked until 2013.
After retiring from soccer, in 2006, he was appointed as the team manager of FC Red Bull Salzburg. He started working as a sports coordinator in the winter of 2012. He succeeded Ralf Rangnick as sports director for the 2015–16 campaign.
