Pan Zhanle bio and age
Pan Zhanle is a Chinese freestyle swimmer who was born on August 4, 2004 inn Wenzhou, China. He is currently 19 years old and already an Olympic champion, and world record holder of the 100-metre freestyle event. Phan made history in 2023, after becoming the first swimmer in history to have all three achievements of reaching sub-47 seconds in the 100-metre freestyle, sub-22 seconds in the 50-metre freestyle, and sub-1:45 in the 200-metre freestyle.

Pan Zhanle stands at a height of 189.5 cm (1.9 m), and has an impressive wingspan of 190.5 cm.
Career and achievements
Pan Zhanle made his first major competition debut at the 2019 Chinese Summer LC Swimming Championships aged just 15-years-old. That year, he competed in the 1500 metre freestyle, and won with a time of 15:33.48. The following year, at the 2020 Chinese Olympic Team Trials, Pan came in second in the finals of the 100-metre freestyle, just 0.03 seconds behind the winner He Junyi.
Pan then competed at the Chinese Summer Nationals and National Games of China in 2021 in the 50, 100, and 400 metre freestyle events. He finished third in the 100-metre freestyle at the National Games. Pan eventually made his international debut at the 2021 FINA SC World Championships where he competed in the 200, 400, and 800 metre freestyle relay events.
Pan then competed in the 100-metre freestyle at the 2022 FINA SC World Championships, becoming the Asian record holder. The following year, Pan competed in the 100-metre freestyle at the Chinese national championships, where he broke the Asian record. One of his greatest achievements came at the 2022 Asian Games (held in 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
He became the first ever-swimmer in history to have the following all three achievements:
- Sub-22 seconds in the 50-metre freestyle
- Sub-47 seconds in the 100-metre freestyle
- Sub-1:45 in the 200-metre freestyle
Earlier this year on February 16, 2024, Pan won the 100-metre freestyle at the 2024 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Just a few days before that, he had set a new 100 metre freestyle world record with a time of 46.80. And now, Pan has set a new record at the 2024 Summer Olympics, in the 100-metre freestyle. He broke his own world record with a time of 46.40 seconds.
